Questionnaire Analysis Plan

What type of research did you do?
Primary research because it was our own questions and we got feed back from our questions.

What type of information did you gather?
We gathered information about our target audience and what they would like to see in my short film.

Who was your target audience?, Why?
16-18 year olds because that is about the age that the rest of the students are in this course and they will be the ones that will be seeing the short story

How could this information help improve your short film?
It will help us find what the target audience will like to see more overall.

Below give a summary of your results: (remember if you have ten responses that means each answer is worth 10% of your overall feedback.)

what age group do you fall under?

For this question i fould out that 84% of people in the class were 16-18 years of age and 7% are 19-21.

Key Research Terminology

What is a Primary source?
it is original and something that you did yourself without anyone else's work
Example:
Asking people different questions with a questionnaire that you have made
  •  So you don't use any of anyone else's work and just your own.

What is a Secondary source?
Resercing things that are already there and that other people have researched. A secondary source interprets and analyzes primary sources.
Example:
  • A journal/magazine article which have other peoples research in it
  • A history textbook that has other peoples research on the topic in the history textbook
What is Market Research?
Research into your target audience so you can improve your product so you sell more of them and about the target audience's needs and preferences.
Example:
  • Shoes
  • Clothes
What are Quantitative results?
Information that you get back that could be fit in a graph from the target audiences feed back so if half are saying something which would be 50% then the other people that answered the questionnaire were 50%
Example:

What are Qualitative results?
Survey with text boxes instead of tick boxes and the information that falls into percentages or quotes from peoples writing
Example:
Long sentences on a servery instead of tick boxes which people wont be able to put their own opinion in the box so you wont get as much feedback of what people think about it.

Proposal

Story; My story that i have thought about doing is going along the lines of two people that have one of the biggest secrets ever and they have to try and hide it from everyone. They both started off by getting bitten in their sleep one night and then a couple of days later they changed into something different and weird. The first things the noticed was that they were both much faster and stronger than everyone else and then they found out that they can hear a more than anyone else, they could both hear the heart beats of everyone around them and they could sense if their feelings and also at night their eyes changed colour into a red and yellow colour.
There will be two actors and we will have to go and buy some new fake contact lenses and some new fouls nails to use as claws. The story will be multi-strand so it will be told by more than one person because there will be two people in the story. Also the story will be anti- realist because it cant really happen in real life. I will use both diegetic and non- diegetic sounds in the story to make it more intense. The story will be non-linear because i will put flash backs to that night that they were bitten. At the end of the story i will leave it open so the viewers will have to use their own imagination to end the story.

Content: The effects that i might use are split screen so i can put both the people on the screen at the same time when they change and i will also use slow motion and transitions when we go back to the night that they were bitten and then they change into something different.

Sound track: I will use a soundtrack that i would use a dramatic and intense sounds to make the viewers hear beat faster. And i will use both diegetic and non-diegetic sounds like the heartbeats of people and i will do a voice over when they can hear people thinking so the voice over will say what they are thinking.

Who is your audience: My target audience would be for teenagers because it is a mystery and the people in the advert would both be teenagers so it would relate to their imagination and dreams.

Short film

Today we watched two short films:

Narrative Structures:
Linear (or sequential) - Runs in order
Non Linear (or non sequential) - Has flash backs
Realist - Can happen in real life
Anti-realist - Can't happen in real life
Endings:
-Open - Leaves questions
-Closed - Finishes the film
Multi-strand - Told by more than one person
Single-strand - Told by only one person
Dietetic - Sounds you can see and hear
Non-dietetic - Sounds you can hear but not see

We also had to create a spider diagram of for our short film where we had to write things about the film for example we had to put how long the film was aloud to be also what props were not aloud to use guns, knifes, drugs and were not aloud to swear in the film.
Then we were given another spider diagram to fill out when we were watching two different short films so we had to say what they used while filming it.

Ideas for out short film about secrets

These are the two ideas that i have came up with to show my group that we will be put into next week to produce the short story that we have chose and with these two ideas i think that the first idea is the better one because i think that it would be more interesting and its to do with the supernatural.

Ashes by Sophie Black short film and The truth about meeting women by TJ Misny

In this lesson we were asked to watch a short story called Ashes and we had to write down notes about the film on a piece of paper.

  1. Shots: Mid shot of the guy sitting on the bed, Close up of the man and girl in bed, Cut in of the girls hands tied to the bed, Two shot of them both kissing each other and also a Noddy shot where the girl is sitting up in the bed thinking about what just happened. Also a Medium Close Up of the blood on the walls and on the woman's mouth.
  2. Sound: The sound is really important in this film because it sets the scene for all of the different shots. Also it created tension between the woman and the man by making the music fast paced and dramatic and when the man is on top of her it was like you could feel her heart beating.
  3. Emotion and meaning: Towards the start of the film it shows the words 'Your happiness blinds you' written on the wall in blood which means that shes too happy with him and isn't listening to the danger signs that her friends are giving her.
  4. How might it inspire your own shots? Its inspired me by showing how we can use different emotions for each shot.
In this lesson we watched a shot film called The truth about meeting women by TJ Misny.

  1. Shots: mid shot, close up, cut in, Cutaways and Two shots. Each time he was a girl he saw what would happen between them and also each time he was in a different place.
  2. Sound: they used sad and happy songs throughout the film and the happy ones when he was with the girls but then when they said it was over it went straight to a sad song.
  3. Emotion/ Meaning:Its saying that hes making excuses not to talk to the girls and has a fear of what will happen to them if they break u and each time he went to a cutaway the relationship ended in different ways.
  4. How might it inspire your own shots? Its inspired my by showing how you can use the different shots like cutaways how he went to different placed each time as soon as he looked at the girls.
