Key Research Terminology

What is a Primary source?
it is original and something that you did yourself without anyone else's work
Example:
Asking people different questions with a questionnaire that you have made
  •  So you don't use any of anyone else's work and just your own.

What is a Secondary source?
Resercing things that are already there and that other people have researched. A secondary source interprets and analyzes primary sources.
Example:
  • A journal/magazine article which have other peoples research in it
  • A history textbook that has other peoples research on the topic in the history textbook
What is Market Research?
Research into your target audience so you can improve your product so you sell more of them and about the target audience's needs and preferences.
Example:
  • Shoes
  • Clothes
What are Quantitative results?
Information that you get back that could be fit in a graph from the target audiences feed back so if half are saying something which would be 50% then the other people that answered the questionnaire were 50%
Example:

What are Qualitative results?
Survey with text boxes instead of tick boxes and the information that falls into percentages or quotes from peoples writing
Example:
Long sentences on a servery instead of tick boxes which people wont be able to put their own opinion in the box so you wont get as much feedback of what people think about it.
